Two tables: one counting professors by undergraduate institution, one by graduate (doctoral) institution. Counts are of professors, so each person appears once per table. Same method as the Departments 1–10 summary, so the two sets are directly comparable.

Two of the 31 "not listed" name an institution without a degree: Morehart (Ohio University, undergraduate ethnobotany and anthropology study) and Woldekiros (Addis Ababa University) — both are counted above as listed, since the institution itself is published. The remaining 31 have no undergraduate institution published anywhere consulted.

Southern Illinois University combines Prufer (Carbondale, 2002) and B. Nelson (1980, campus not specified in the source). The two unrecorded doctorates are Rosenzweig (Northwestern) and Browman (Washington U.).

What the counts show

Michigan dominates this tier. It supplied 11 of 70 recorded doctorates — 16%, a larger share than any single institution held in the Departments 1–10 set, where the top three each supplied 8 of 90 (9%). Adding Berkeley (7) puts two departments behind 26% of all doctorates here.
Doctoral training is concentrated but the pool is smaller. 28 doctoral institutions serve 70 faculty here (2.5 faculty per institution) versus 42 institutions for 90 faculty in the top ten (2.1). Fewer schools, used harder.
The same handful of departments trains both tiers. Michigan, Berkeley, Harvard, Arizona, Chicago, UCLA and Penn appear at the top of both lists. What changes is the order: Penn and Harvard lead the top ten, Michigan leads this one.
Departments here hire their own Ph.D.s; the top ten essentially do not. Nine of 70 faculty (13%) hold a doctorate from the same institution that employs them — Peeples and Abbott at Arizona State, Mattson and Schleher at New Mexico, Mueller and Woldekiros at Washington U., Nissen at Northwestern, White at Boston University, Gamble at UC Santa Barbara. In the Departments 1–10 set the figure is 1 of 90 (Warinner at Harvard). This is the sharpest structural difference between the two tiers in the data.
Undergraduate origins are even more dispersed than in the top ten. 32 of 36 institutions contributed exactly one professor, and the largest entry is Berkeley at 3. Liberal arts colleges again feature heavily: Vassar, Oberlin, Smith, Bryn Mawr, Colgate, Occidental, DePauw, Dartmouth.
Non-U.S. doctorates are rarer here. Five of 70 (Cambridge ×2, Oxford ×2, Australian National) versus eleven of 90 in the top ten. The international pipeline that feeds Brown, Penn and UCLA largely stops at this tier.
Reporting gaps run the same direction, more steeply. Undergraduate institution is missing for 31 faculty (43%) against 2 missing doctorates (3%). The comparable figures for the top ten were 38% and 10%.

Note on comparability: these percentages use a roster of core archaeology faculty including emeriti, the same convention as the Departments 1–10 file. Roster size varies by department (Boston University 9, Arizona State 12, University of Washington 5), so cross-department comparisons of raw counts reflect department size as much as anything else.
